Will I remember anything when I’m in hypnosis?
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, you have control, and you remember just what you want to. Stage hypnotists are specially trained to create the illusion that they have control, and create the temporary illusion of forgetfulness in those participants that are open to it.
What’s it like to be in a trance?
You can expect to feel tingling or numbness in your hands and/or feet, heaviness in your body, and a surprising alertness in your mind. You will hear everything I say, you will remember everything, and you will still be aware of where you are! In fact, you have probably been in a trance many times ... ever driven your vehicle and suddenly you are a kilometer down the road and can’t remember how you got there? That was a trance!
What's each session of hypnotherapy like?
The first session includes 30 minutes to establish your goals, history and how to create the most effective way of working with your mind and body. The last hour is a relaxing hypnosis session that "sets the scene" and allows you to truly experience your goals. Follow up sessions focus on supporting you whilst discovering any subconscious behaviours that will then be released healthily.<more information>
I am a control freak and I don't think I can be hypnotized. Is this right?
I do not put you into hypnosis, you take yourself into hypnosis ! In fact, no-one can use hypnosis against another's will. If I was to make a suggestion that you didn't completely agree with, it would effectively just "bounce off" your mind! It is good you are a control freak as you can take yourself as deeply as you want to go into hypnosis. We set up finger signals so that you can always communicate with me.
I am scared of not remembering what happens when I am in hypnosis.
You are more aware of your surroundings when in the hypnotic state. When in hypnosis you are accessing your sub conscious mind, it is an active problem solver and is able to access all of your memories. You recall all that you wish to.
Do you help people to quit smoking?
I can work with people who are ready to let go of the habit, but if you still enjoy smoking then hypnosis will not work for you at this time. Smokers that need to stop, but still enjoy the smoking habit, will first need to spend some time with me doing work on what is causing attachment to this destructive habit. I am a little skeptical and also concerned about losing control with hypnosis.
I invite you to research hypnosis and determine for yourself how safe and natural the process is; visit our links for a starting point. You are always in control and your subconscious mind will not take you anywhere you are not ready to go. Healing is done before you bring yourself out of hypnosis, so you return feeling relaxed and calm. Link to my weight loss page for more information.
Can you do spiritual work with hypnosis?
Yes, with hypnosis it is possible to work with a spiritual (not religious) focus. It may be possible to receive guidance; often clients experience clarification, actions to take to help them achieve their goals, and other helpful messages, whilst in the hypnotic state. When clients partake in Past Life Regression, they often receive instructions on how they may heal or improve themselves in this life, accessing past life and their guide's wisdom. I now also offer, "Spiritual Regression" , or “Life Between Lives” using hypnosis to access the time when the "Spirit" resides in "Bardot;" here you can work with your spirit guide (s), your soul group and even meet with your Spirit Council. You may receive clarification on such areas as life purpose and your spiritual progress to date.
Do you sell hypnosis CD's?
I make and sell guided meditation CD's for healing and relaxation, but I don’t sell the hypnosis CD’s I make to the general public. I chose to only sell Guided Meditation CD’s as I believe that a hypnosis CD will not be as effective until you have experienced the hypnotherapists voice/energy in a safe and protected environment.
When you work with me, I give you a hypnosis CD to you after your first session. Although the hypnosis you achieve at home is likely not as deep as in the clinic, it is deep enough to "top up" the suggestions made during your session. You may purchase additional CD’s at $20 each.
Are you covered by OHIP or Extended Health Insurance ?
Unfortunately you are only covered by those institutions if your hypnotherapist is a Doctor of Medicine. I believe you may submit your receipts with your personal taxes, placing them under health-related costs.
How much are your sessions?
We charge $90/hour for all services; the initial session tends to be 1.5 hours as we discuss your goals, barriers and history in detail. Children are charged on a pro rata basis, sessions are usually 45 minutes for 10-12 year olds, younger can be from 20 minutes upwards, and older tend to use the same as adults. Full-time students qualify for half-price sessions.
